I forked an open-source project Spliit — it escalated past the plan: anonymous accounts, bank-CSV

I was a huge Splitwise fan and got all my friends and family onto it. When the ads and limits started, I moved everyone to Spliit — free, open source, no accounts needed. That last part turned out to be the problem. Friends kept asking why their groups disappeared (one browser, cleared site data, gone), why nobody got notified about new expenses, and why anyone with the link could add expenses as anyone else.
